This poem describes the friendship between two friends. Lanling County produces fine wine with the strong smell of tulip. If we pour it into a translucent jade cup, we will see it shines like amber. As long as the host drinks with me to our hearts’ content, I will feel happy and at ease even if I am away from home.
This poem expresses a depressed feeling caused by the poet’s having talents yet unrecognized by His Majesty’s government. My white hair seems to be nine thousand meters long. I know it is because of my endless melancholy. But I do not know where it comes from when I look at the shiny bronze mirror.
